Rent a Vintage Story server
Vintage Story is a slow game, in the best sense. A world that grows over months belongs on a server that doesn't depend on one player's calendar.
Vintage Story server: tiers and prices
All prices are final prices under § 19 UStG (German small-business rule), billed monthly in advance. No direct debit, no renewal without your payment.

What you can configure yourself
25 fields from `serverconfig.json` in the control panel, including player count, server name, password, world configuration and permissions. We added the maximum player count explicitly, because it wasn't visible in the default configuration.

Why a permanent server matters here
Vintage Story rewards persistence: multi-step crafting, seasons, stocking up for winter. That progress builds over weeks and months, which makes a privately hosted server riskier here than for a game you finish in a weekend.
On a rented server the world keeps running while you don't play. Seasons pass, supplies have to be planned. That's part of the game, and it only works if the server actually stays up.
Mods
Vintage Story has its own mod database; files go into the mod folder and load on start. Server and client mods must match, though this game reports the mismatch clearly on connect rather than refusing silently.

Frequently asked questions
Does the world keep running when nobody is online?
Yes, the server runs continuously. Seasons and time pass, which is explicitly part of Vintage Story.
Can I upload an existing world?
Yes, via file manager or SFTP while the server is stopped.
Are mods possible?
Yes, via the mod folder. Everyone needs the client side of each mod.
How do my friends connect?
Multiplayer → add server, enter address with port from the control panel. Every player needs their own Vintage Story account.
How many players fit on it?
You set the cap in the control panel (field “Max players”), plus the queue length. Memory use grows with world size and many mods.
What happens when Vintage Story updates?
The server version is loaded at setup and doesn't update itself on restart. After an update you open a ticket and we install the new version. Check your mods against the new version yourself.
How do I back up my world?
In the “Backups” tab you keep up to 7 backups. On top, the server makes one automatically every night; the last 7 are kept, and one you mark with “Lock” is never deleted. For a world that grows over months, lock a backup now and then, locked ones stay.
Do I have to cancel when I want to stop?
No. Billing is monthly in advance: if you don't pay the next invoice, the contract ends with the paid period. You can cancel at any time via “Cancel contract” in the client area, effective at the end of the paid period. After that the server is suspended and deleted three days later, backups included. Download your world from the “Backups” tab first.
