When the work is the product
VPS, game servers and bot hosting cover the standard cases. Beyond that I don't sell a machine, I sell working time, in four areas I can name.
Four services
All of it also works on servers that aren't hosted here.
- Server management
- Ongoing, monthly: applying updates, setting up and watching monitoring, configuring backups, and actually running a restore once, instead of only configuring one. The server doesn't have to live here.
- Infrastructure projects
- Proxmox clusters, moving from another provider to here or elsewhere, network and firewall rebuilds, dedicated hardware, storage and backup targets. As a contract for work with a described result, not an open-ended timesheet.
- Automation
- Turning repeated manual steps into scripts and workflows: provisioning, monitoring rules, reports, connecting AI assistants to systems you already run. Whatever runs afterwards is yours, documentation included, not a black box.
- Technical documentation
- Runbooks, operations manuals, network diagrams, handover documents: for systems someone else built, or for your own. Written so a stranger can act on them, not so a folder is full.
Where the limits are
Six points settled before the quote, not after.
- No SLA, no 24/7 standby. Response on business days. If you need an on-call rota, you need more than a sole trader. That's a fact, not a negotiating position.
- No holiday cover and no interim administration. Someone who takes instructions and is embedded in your operation is not self-employed under § 7 (1) SGB IV. That backfires on both sides. Such a request becomes a contract for work with a clear result, or nothing.
- No legal or tax advice (§ 3 RDG). Technical assessment yes, legal judgement no, not even when the question sounds technical.
- As a small business under § 19 UStG I don't charge VAT. For you as a business customer that means: no input tax deduction. It says so here, not first in the quote.
- Before I touch a system holding personal data, we sign a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR. Not before.
- If a project doesn't fit my time or my skills, I'll say so. A refusal beats half a solution you have to explain to someone else later.
How this works
Three steps, no form.
- 01 · Inquiry
- Briefly describe what it's about: scope, timeline, budget range if you already know it.
- 02 · Assessment
- Feedback on whether it fits, usually within a few business days. No call center, no queue.
- 03 · Quote or decline
- If it fits: an individual quote with a described result, not a catalog price. If it doesn't: I'll say that too.
