Rent an American Truck Simulator server
Your own convoy server means the run continues even when the host calls it a night. No waiting for one specific person to launch the game.

What you can configure yourself
19 fields from `server_config.sii` in the control panel: server name, description, password, player count, visibility, collisions and traffic rules. We use the same editor for Euro Truck Simulator 2, because the two games share the config format, and building two editors would be duplicate maintenance for no benefit.

Why a dedicated convoy server
Convoy mode can be started from inside the game, but then everything hangs off the host's machine. Host gone, session gone. For a group that drives regularly, that's the most common friction.
A dedicated server stays up, has a fixed name and a fixed password, and anyone can join when they have time. That's the difference between "we have to arrange a time" and "let me see who's driving".
Mods in convoy
Map and vehicle mods must be identical for everyone, otherwise nobody connects. That's the most common cause of a failed join: not the server, but one driver's diverging mod list.

Frequently asked questions
Do all drivers need the same mods?
Yes, for map and vehicle mods. If one differs, the game refuses to connect.
Can I use the same server for ETS2?
No, they are two separate products. The settings editor in the panel is shared, the server is not.
Does the server run while I'm offline?
Yes, that's the point: it stays up regardless of who is playing.
How do my co-drivers find the server?
Open convoy mode in the game and search the session list for the server name you set in the control panel; they join with the password from there. “Show in server browser” has to be on. Convoy mode has no direct connect by address.
How many drivers fit on it?
A convoy in ATS takes at most eight players; that's a limit of the game. So there's no player-count field in the control panel.
What happens when ATS updates?
The server checks for a new version via SteamCMD on every start and downloads it. After an update, a restart is enough; all drivers need the same game version.
How do I back up the server?
In the “Backups” tab you keep up to 7 backups. On top, the server makes one automatically every night; the last 7 are kept, and one you mark with “Lock” is never deleted. Profiles and jobs are stored on your own PC anyway.
Do I have to cancel when I want to stop?
No. Billing is monthly in advance: if you don't pay the next invoice, the contract ends with the paid period. You can cancel at any time via “Cancel contract” in the client area, effective at the end of the paid period. After that the server is suspended and deleted three days later, backups included. Download your world from the “Backups” tab first.
