Rent a Factorio server
In Factorio, performance is decided by the factory, not the player count. And the factory runs on exactly one core.
Factorio server: tiers and prices
All prices are final prices under § 19 UStG (German small-business rule), billed monthly in advance. No direct debit, no renewal without your payment.
| Tier | Specs | Price |
|---|---|---|
| S2 GB · 2 vCPU · 10 GB | 2 GB · 2 vCPU · 10 GB | 2.99 €/month |
| MRecommended4 GB · 3 vCPU · 15 GB | 4 GB · 3 vCPU · 15 GB | 5.89 €/month |
| L6 GB · 4 vCPU · 25 GB | 6 GB · 4 vCPU · 25 GB | 8.69 €/month |
What you can configure yourself
32 fields in the control panel, from `server-settings.json` and `map-settings.json`: server name, description, visibility, password, autosave interval, maximum players and map generation rules. We set the player limit through the admin interface so it takes effect immediately rather than at the next restart.

UPS is the number that matters
Factorio simulates the entire factory at a fixed 60 updates per second. As long as the server keeps up, everything runs normally. When it can't, in-game time slows down for everyone: belts, furnaces, trains, all at once. That is the infamous UPS ceiling, and every large factory meets it eventually.
What decides it is single-core speed. Factorio cannot meaningfully spread its main tick across cores, because every second must stay exactly reproducible, and multiplayer synchronisation depends on it. Buying more cores does nothing here.
Mods and existing saves
Mods from the Factorio mod portal go into the mod folder and load on start. Important: everyone needs the same mods at the same versions, otherwise the game refuses to connect. That's Factorio's determinism check, not a server fault. An existing save uploads as a `.zip` via the file manager.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my game slow down with only two players?
Because in Factorio the factory creates the load, not the players. If UPS drop below 60, only a faster CPU or a more efficient factory helps. More RAM changes nothing.
Can I run Space Age or large mod sets?
Yes. Expect considerably higher memory use with heavy mod sets and take one tier above what a vanilla run would need.
Are there autosaves?
Yes, and you set the interval yourself in the panel. Backups are included included as well.
How do my friends connect?
Multiplayer → “Connect to address” and enter address with port from the control panel. For the public list the server additionally needs the username and token of your Factorio account.
How many players fit on it?
You set the cap in the control panel (field “Max players”); it applies immediately. In Factorio, performance depends on the factory, not the player count.
What happens when Factorio updates?
The server version is loaded at setup and doesn't update itself on restart. After a game update you open a ticket and we install the new version. All players need the same version as the server.
Do I have to cancel when I want to stop?
No. Billing is monthly in advance: if you don't pay the next invoice, the contract ends with the paid period. You can cancel at any time via “Cancel contract” in the client area, effective at the end of the paid period. After that the server is suspended and deleted three days later, backups included. Download your world from the “Backups” tab first.
