Rent an ARK: Survival Evolved server

ARK is the most demanding game in our catalogue. That's why we only offer it from a size where it actually runs. A machine that's too small wouldn't be a bargain here, it would be a broken product.

What you can configure yourself

61 fields in the control panel, split into basic and advanced: experience, taming and harvesting multipliers, breeding rates, PvP rules, structure limits. Written line by line into `GameUserSettings.ini` so that repeated keys in other sections survive.

Why ARK needs more machine than the rest

ARK uses a lot of memory and loads the entire map on start. Our own startup logs show a full start of around 160 seconds for ARK, by far the longest in the catalogue. On top of that comes sustained load from tamed creatures, breeding and structures that continues without any player present.

We could have offered ARK on slower hardware at a price where it technically runs and practically disappoints. We dropped that option. What remains is the Xeon machine in Frankfurt at 3.7 GHz turbo, the hardware on which the game is actually enjoyable.

Multipliers: the actual reason for your own server

On official servers, taming large creatures takes hours and hatching runs in real time. Your own server is the only way to fit that around the time you have, and those multipliers are the most common reason to rent one at all.

Experience, taming, harvesting, breeding and maturation sit as individual fields in our panel. No INI editor, no restart ritual with an uncertain outcome.

Maps, mods and saves

You pick the map in the panel; mods are added by their Workshop IDs and loaded on start. Expect noticeably longer start times with mod sets: ARK loads them fully before the server becomes reachable. Existing saves upload via SFTP while the server is stopped.

Frequently asked questions

Why does ARK only start at the middle tier?

Because it wouldn't run well enough below that. We'd rather sell one tier fewer than a product that doesn't meet expectations.

How long does the first start take?

Longer than any other game in the catalogue: our own logs show around 160 seconds for a full start without mods. With mods, more.

Can I change taming and breeding rates?

Yes, as individual fields in the panel. Experience, taming, harvesting, breeding and maturation are all there separately.

How do my friends connect?

Via the session list in the game: filter by the server name you set in the control panel. After a restart this can take a few minutes, because ARK takes longer to start than any other game in the catalogue.

How many players fit on it?

You set the cap in the control panel (field “Max players”). In ARK, map, mods and the number of tamed creatures matter more for memory than player count.

What happens when ARK updates?

The server checks for a new version via SteamCMD on every start and downloads it. After an update, a restart in the control panel is enough.

How do I back up my save?

In the “Backups” tab you keep up to 7 backups. On top, the server makes one automatically every night; the last 7 are kept, and one you mark with “Lock” is never deleted. Always take one by hand before changing mods.

Do I have to cancel when I want to stop?

No. Billing is monthly in advance: if you don't pay the next invoice, the contract ends with the paid period. You can cancel at any time via “Cancel contract” in the client area, effective at the end of the paid period. After that the server is suspended and deleted three days later, backups included. Download your world from the “Backups” tab first.
