What you can configure yourself

19 fields from `server_config.sii` in the control panel: server name, description, password, maximum players, visibility, collisions, traffic rules and time settings. One editor for ETS2 and American Truck Simulator, because both use the same format.

Why your own server instead of in-game convoy

The built-in convoy is tied to a session: whoever starts it keeps it alive. For a group driving across the week, that turns playing together into a scheduling problem.

A dedicated server removes the question. Same address, same password, and whoever has an hour in the evening just sets off.

Mods and map expansions

Map expansions and vehicle mods must match across everyone. Plan that up front: the most common connection error originates not on the server but in one driver's diverging mod list.

Frequently asked questions

How many drivers fit on the server?

A convoy in ETS2 takes at most eight players; that's a limit of the game. So there's no player-count field in the control panel.

Do I need the DLC maps?

Everyone needs the same map expansions, otherwise the worlds don't match.

Where does my server sit?

In Frankfurt am Main. Since 31 August 2026 that is our only game server location. The former line in Gravelines has been discontinued.

How do my co-drivers find the server?

Open convoy mode in the game and search the session list for the server name you set in the control panel; they join with the password from there. “Show in server browser” has to be on. Convoy mode has no direct connect by address.

What happens when ETS2 updates?

The server checks for a new version via SteamCMD on every start and downloads it. After an update, a restart is enough; all drivers need the same game version.

How do I back up the server?

In the “Backups” tab you keep up to 7 backups. On top, the server makes one automatically every night; the last 7 are kept, and one you mark with “Lock” is never deleted. Profiles and jobs are stored on your own PC anyway.

Do I have to cancel when I want to stop?

No. Billing is monthly in advance: if you don't pay the next invoice, the contract ends with the paid period. You can cancel at any time via “Cancel contract” in the client area, effective at the end of the paid period. After that the server is suspended and deleted three days later, backups included. Download your world from the “Backups” tab first.
