Rent a Hytale server

A fresh Hytale server only accepts players once someone has signed it in with a Hytale account. With us, that's already done on first start.

What you can configure yourself

In the control panel under “Settings” you set 17 values without touching a file: the sign-in (automatic via MRMedia or with your own Hytale account), server name, password, game mode, hardcore, PvP, day and night length and more. Plus whitelist, admins and bans right in the panel, and mods from CurseForge with one click in the “Mods” tab. Saving stops the server briefly and restarts it, because otherwise Hytale would overwrite changes made while it runs.

The sign-in you don't have to do

Hytale requires every server to be signed in with a Hytale account before it accepts players. Self-hosters start a device login in the console, open a link, confirm a code and have to remember to persist the sign-in.

With us the server signs in automatically via the MRMedia account on start and renews the sign-in on its own. If you'd rather run it under your own account, switch to “With my own Hytale account” in the control panel under “Settings” and sign in once with /auth login device in the console; the credentials stay encrypted on the server.

Updates: client and server must match

Hytale checks on connect that client and server run exactly the same protocol version. After a game update, nobody can join a server still on the old version.

We check for a new server version every 30 minutes, download it centrally and then restart your server automatically. It's back within about a minute, on the new version. Nothing for you to do.

View distance and memory

View distance is Hytale's biggest driver of memory use. It defaults to 32 chunks; Hypixel Studios recommends 12 at most. We start new servers at 12. You can change it in the control panel, capped per plan: 12 on 6 GB, 16 on 8 GB, 20 on 12 GB.

That's why our plans start at 6 GB: in our own test, a 4 GB server with a single player exploring used almost all of its memory.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need my own Hytale account for the server?

No. The server signs in automatically via MRMedia. To play, every player of course needs their own copy of Hytale.

How do my friends connect?

Via direct connect in the game, using address and port from the control panel, e.g. 31.56.45.196:5520. Hytale doesn't support SRV records yet, so the port is always part of the address.

What happens when Hytale updates?

We restart your server automatically within about half an hour of the update; afterwards it runs the new version. If a friend still can't join, their launcher usually hasn't loaded the update yet.

Are mods possible?

Yes. Under “Mods” in the control panel you search CurseForge and install mods with one click; mods that need others bring them along automatically. Your own files (.zip or .jar) go into the mods/ folder. Hytale loads mods on the next restart.

How many players fit on the server?

You set the cap in the control panel under “Settings” (field “Max players”). What runs smoothly depends mainly on view distance in Hytale, which is capped per plan so the memory holds.

How do I back up my world?

In the “Backups” tab you keep up to 7 backups, download them or restore them. On top, the server makes one automatically every night; the last 7 are kept, and one you mark with “Lock” is never deleted.

Do I have to cancel when I want to stop?

No. Billing is monthly in advance: if you don't pay the next invoice, the contract ends with the paid period. You can cancel at any time via “Cancel contract” in the client area, effective at the end of the paid period. After that the server is suspended and deleted three days later, backups included. Download your world from the “Backups” tab first.
